ESWG Meeting 17-21 June 2008: website open!

The 2008 meeting of the English Speaking Working Group will be held in Sinaia, Romania 17-21 June 2008. Use of ISFG logo on private websites

The executive board has published guidelines for the ISFG members to comply with the statutes of the ISFG. In particular, the use of the ISFG logo and the reference to the ISFG membership on a commercial website, and to the participation in proficiency testing exercises organized by one of the ISFG working groups has been addressed.

Statistics in DNA Analysis

The 7th International Conference on Forensic Inference and Statistics will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland from 21st to 23rd August, 2008. One of the main topics covers recent trends in DNA statistics and the use of DNA databases, and a training workshop on the use of Bayesian Networks in DNA evidence interpretation will be organized.

DNA in Forensics 2008

The Second International Conference on DNA in Forensics will take place in Ancona, Italy, May 27-30, 2008. ATTENTION: The final programme has been published on April 2! The main topics comprise the 6^th Forensic Y-User Workshop, the 3^rd EMPOP meeting on mtDNA, X-chromosomal systems, forensic molecular pathology, genetics of complex traits, and - for the first time - forensic entomology. FSI Genetics launch celebration

During the 22^nd ISFG Congress in Copenhagen, the successful launch of the new journal FSI Genetics was celebrated at a reception organized by the journal publisher Elsevier for the members of the editorial board as well as numerous journal reviewers who were present at the congress.

Paternity testing commission

The ISFG recommendations on biostatistics in paternity testing have been published. The article by David Gjertson has appeared in Forensic Sci. Int. Genetics 2007, 1(3), 223-231, and can be retrieved from our publication page

Website design

The official website of the ISFG has been completely redesigned. Following an extensive testing period, the new website has been transferred on December 23rd, 2007 to the server to replace the old ISFG web design which has been active since 2001.

New Journal

FSI: Genetics is a new journal (editor-in-chief: Angel Carracedo) dedicated exclusively to the field of forensic genetics. It has been launched in 2007 by Elsevier Publishers in affiliation with the International Society of Forensic Genetics. All members of the ISFG receive a free subscription of this journal (print and online version) as part of their membership benefits.
