We are happy to announce the development and launch of the new search engine SAM2, https://empop.online; (Huber et al 2018: "Next generation database search algorithm for forensic mitogenome analyses"; http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.fsigen.2018.09.001).

SAM2 performs database searches in unaligned nucleotide string format and provides phylogenetic alignment and haplogroup estimates of mitotypes.
